It is called the \"flesh-eating disease.\" It is a bacterial disease that attacks the immune system. It can lead to sepsis. Like all STIs, it increases the risk of contracting HIV. Condoms remain the only effective means of prevention. There are antibiotic treatments that cure the disease.       <\/b><\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53d0011 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"53d0011\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>What is Donovanosis?<\/b><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8cb1ec2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8cb1ec2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Donovanosis or granuloma inguinale is a sexually transmitted infection. It is caused by the bacterium \"Klebsiella granulomatis.\"  <br><br>This rare disease, initially from Southeast Asia, is rapidly expanding in 2021.\n<br><br>It affects men more. The ratio is 2 cases in men for 1 in women. Transmission occurs during sexual intercourse (oral, vaginal, or anal).  <br><br>\nGranuloma inguinale increases the risk of HIV contamination. This characteristic is not specific to granuloma inguinale but to all STIs. \n<br><br>The terminal stage of the disease can lead to tissue destruction. This is why it is nicknamed the \"flesh-eating disease.\" \n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8e873a9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8e873a9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>The Expansion of Donovanosis<\/b><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7177967 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7177967\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">This infection is arriving in Europe and the USA, where about a hundred cases are reported annually.<br>  In Europe, the number of cases has been growing rapidly since 2016. Donovanosis was slowed down in 2020, but its expansion exploded in 2021.  \n<br> \nThis rare disease is concerning; its symptoms have significant consequences. Without treatment, the disease can lead to sepsis.  <br><br>\n<b><u>Sepsis:<\/u><\/b> A generalized infection caused by bacteria. It causes a strong demand on the immune system, which weakens it. \n<br> \n<b>Immunocompromised individuals are at risk of superinfection.\n<\/b> \n<b><u>Immunosuppression:<\/u><\/b> Immune system weakened by bacteria\/viruses. The immune system cannot handle various infections. \n<br> \n<b><u>Immune system:<\/u><\/b> It brings together the various natural defenses of the human body.\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-390e68d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"390e68d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>Symptoms of granuloma inguinale<\/b><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4dd54fe elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Painless nodules appear 10 to 40 days after contact with the bacteria.<b> Genital ulcers are painless and similar to those of Syphilis<\/b>.\n<br><br><b>For men<\/b>, the disease is primarily localized <b>in the genital area<\/b> \n<br><br>\n<b>For women,<\/b> the disease is primarily <b>vulvar or perineal<\/b>.\n\n<br><br>Its development leads to the spread of the infection, which causes <b>internal and external tissue destruction<\/b>.  <br><br>Without treatment, the infection continues to destroy tissues.\n\n<b>The destructive nature of granuloma inguinale increases the risk of superinfection<\/b>. \n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
